About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Development Lead to join our team at JACOBS DOUWE EGBERTS. As a key member of our Category Development and Shopper Marketing team, you will be responsible for leading the execution of our coffee category strategy in Tesco, driving growth and profitability for our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive category strategy for Tesco, aligned with our company's vision and goals.
  • Lead a team of 2 to deliver category management excellence in Tesco, including range reviews, promotional analysis, and NPD implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and customer insights, to drive category growth and profitability.
  • Manage the customer range review calendar, ensuring alignment with marketing and other key stakeholders on optimum launch dates and customer shelf requirements.
  • Deliver quarterly PQA's (Product Quadrant Analysis) and collaboratively manage under-performing skus with the customer and internally.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Tesco stakeholders, including buyers, category managers, and customer insights teams.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to inform category strategy and decision-making.
Requirements
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in category development, buying, or account management roles in FMCG.
  • Deep knowledge of UK retail shoppers and customers.
  • Proven track record of delivering category growth and profitability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive business decisions.
  • Fluent English language skills.
