About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Development Lead to join our team in the UK. As a Category Development Lead, you will be responsible for leading the execution of our coffee category strategy in Tesco, one of our key retail customers. You will work closely with our sales team, category strategy team, and customer to deliver business growth and improve customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive category strategy for Tesco, aligned with our company's overall business objectives.
  • Lead a team of 2 to deliver category management excellence in Tesco, including range reviews, promotional analysis, and NPD implementation.
  • Collaborate with our sales team, category strategy team, and customer to identify business opportunities and develop strategic plans to drive growth.
  • Monitor and analyze sales data, market trends, and customer behavior to inform category strategy and optimize business performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our customer, including regular communication, joint business planning, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to your team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activity, and market developments to ensure our category strategy remains competitive and effective.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in category development, buying, or account management roles in FMCG.
  • Deep knowledge of UK retail shoppers and customers, including their needs, preferences, and behaviors.
  • Proven track record of delivering business growth and improving customer satisfaction in a category development or account management role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop strategic plans.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Fluent English language skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
