About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Development Lead to join our team at JACOBS DOUWE EGBERTS. As a key member of our Category Development and Shopper Marketing team, you will play a critical role in driving the growth of our coffee category in the UK market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the execution of the Category Development strategy in Tesco, aligning with the company's vision and goals.
  • Develop and implement strategic and operational plans for the coffee portfolio in Tesco, leveraging shopper behavior analysis and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Category Strategy and brand teams to successfully launch new products and re-launch existing ones, ensuring distribution, market share, and profit.
  • Deliver quarterly Product Quadrant Analysis (PQA) and manage under-performing SKUs with the customer and internally.
  • Provide quarterly Coffee Market Insights decks for discussion with Tesco, highlighting future trends, customer competitor executions, and more.
  • Lead bi-annual category opportunity/vision sessions with Tesco, including coffee education.
  • Manage the Dunnhumby Insights relationship, ensuring efficient and effective use of data, tools, and budget.
  • Collaborate with shopper on activation and evaluation.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 2, with support from your controller.
Requirements
  • Graduate with a minimum of 7 years' experience in Category Development, Buying, or Account Management roles in FMCG.
  • Deep knowledge of UK retail shoppers and customers.
  • Experienced coach and line manager.
  • Proven ability to work in x-functional teams, especially across sales and marketing.
  • Marketing literate, able to navigate strategic consumer and brand strategy and executional, commercial detail.
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Able to work closely with numbers and break down complexity to deliver clear messaging.
  • Self-motivated, highly disciplined, and able to manage and lead multiple stakeholders at all levels.
  • Fluent English.
