Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Category Development Manager. As a key member of our Sales function, you will play a pivotal role in driving category growth and shopper activation excellence.

As a Category Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of 9 and working closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute category strategies that drive long-term growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing category strategies that align with our business objectives
  • Leading a team of category specialists to deliver category growth and shopper activation initiatives
  • Collaborating with external stakeholders, including customer experience managers, to establish JDE as a key support partner
  • Designing and executing Perfect Store strategies to maximize category and sales performance
  • Developing integrated shopper marketing strategies to drive shopper preference and loyalty
  • Working with marketing teams to develop and execute annual brand activity and innovation plans
  • Establishing robust analysis and evaluation tools to support in-store activation plans
  • Developing a leading-edge category and shopper marketing team with a clear career pathing and capability development plan
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Graduate calibre with extensive experience in category development, buying, or account management
  • Deep knowledge of UK retail shoppers and customers
  • Experience of developing category strategies and leading cross-functional teams
  • Marketing literacy and ability to navigate strategic consumer and brand strategy and executional detail
  • Knowledge of several information system tools, including Nielsen, IRI, Kantar, and Dunnhumby
  • Able to work closely with numbers and break down complexity to deliver clear messaging
  • Self-motivated and highly disciplined with influencing skills and ability to present to senior management and customers
  • Accountable and results-driven with a drive to deliver results
  • Good knowledge of English
