Therapist - Family Safeguarding Team

Job Title: Child and Adult Welfare Worker

About the Role

This position involves working with adults with significant and complex needs, focusing on engaging with parents regarding their mental health and well-being while engaging with the wider social care system involved with the family.

  • You will be responsible for clinical provision including assessment, formulation, and time-limited evidence-based interventions within the Family safeguarding mental health team.
  • Identifying the most appropriate form of mental health/psychological intervention for individuals and developing bespoke short-term interventions to parents based on parental mental health need is a key task.
  • Understanding the impact of parental mental health upon children and young people requires having a clear understanding of associated risk and impact in relation to children and young people.
  • Providing specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation regarding evidence-based therapy to other professionals contributing directly to the formulation and support for parents engaged within the family safeguarding model.
  • Recognising and being able to identify parental needs and the impact on children and young people in line with the Children Act 1989 is crucial.
Key Requirements
  • A relevant experience and qualification in delivering therapeutic interventions across a range of specialisms including trauma informed CBT, DBT, EMDR, functional family therapy, systemic family therapy is required.
  • Delivering evidence-based interventions and having an appropriate level of knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience is necessary.
  • Knowledge of governmental directives and current policies in relation to families and safeguarding is expected.
  • Safeguarding issues for children and adults and experience of the context of children's safeguarding are must-haves.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of mental health/psychological intervention for individuals to develop bespoke short-term interventions to parents based on parental mental health need.
  • Providing specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation regarding evidence-based therapy to other professionals is a plus.
  • Clinical provision including assessment, formulation, and time-limited evidence-based interventions within the Family safeguarding mental health team is essential.
  • Holding a Car Driver license and Enhanced DBS is required.
