Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child and Family Intervention Specialist to join our Emergency Duty Team (EDT) in Abingdon. As part of our team, you will provide a high-quality response to emergency referrals out of normal working hours.

About the Role

You will work a rotational shift pattern, including some weekends and Bank Holidays. Our team works closely with partner agencies and is co-located with Thames Valley Police in Abingdon Police Station.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a high-quality response to emergency referrals out of normal working hours.
  • Work a rotational shift pattern.
  • Provide appropriate support and interventions to vulnerable adults, children and families to address safeguarding concerns.
  • Provide out of hours advice and guidance to professionals, as well as factually accurate and reflective reports.
  • Be the first point of contact for professionals, vulnerable adults, children, families or members of the public who have a concern which cannot wait until normal office hours resume.
  • Carry out thorough high-quality crisis led assessments for children and families, promptly identifying level of risk, need and services required to promote and ensure safe outcomes.
Requirements
  • Three years post qualifying Social Worker experience.
  • A passion to grow and develop your skills, so that you can be a positive role model for children and their families.
  • Kind and caring, providing a proactive personalised approach, responding to needs in a timely manner with good communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
  • Advocating for equality and integrity in all you do, providing tailored advice and information to children and families acknowledging the uniqueness of individual needs or situations, referring to other agencies where applicable within the emergency response.
  • Willing to take responsibility and contribute to the delivery of Oxfordshire County Council's vision and maintain a 'child/person' focused model of working by exercising professional curiosity in all areas of work.
  • Driven to do things differently to embark on a journey of continuous improvement.
