Excel in your career as a dedicated public health specialist with our NHS team. We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our dynamic 0-19 Children's and Young People Public Health Service in Abingdon and surrounding areas.

This innovative service combines Health Visiting, School Health Nursing, and the Family Nurse Partnership to deliver high-quality care through the Healthy Child Programme. As part of our team, you will work closely with children up to 8 years old who require targeted support, providing health-related episodes of care for concerns such as behaviour, diet, and sleep. You will also contribute to school transition and address any readiness concerns through our new four-year health and development review.

We offer a unique opportunity to engage in professional and leadership development, working on various projects within the service. Additionally, you will have the chance to deliver community-based health promotion activities and support Oxfordshire's Young Parents Pathway alongside specialist practitioners.

Main Responsibilities
  • You will work under the delegation of a SCPHN Health Visitor/School Health Nurse to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate family-focused care in partnership with other agencies.
  • You will undertake Healthy Child Programme developmental and transitional assessments, planning, delivering, and evaluating public health initiatives through community-based health promotion activities.
  • As a safeguarding practitioner, you will adhere to Safeguarding policies and actively engage in safeguarding processes, including Early Help Assessments and Team Around the Family processes.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • An understanding of evidence-based practice
  • Community experience
  • A First Level Registered Nurse or Midwife qualification
  • Practice assessor/supervisor accreditation
  • Leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • IT competence using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • The ability to motivate and inspire confidence and enthusiasm in yourself and your team
  • Experience in delivering health promotion activities

Salary £45,000 - £55,000 per annum depending on experience
