Salary

The salary range for this role is £43,421 - £46,464 per annum, with an additional 15% enhancement for unsocial hours. This reflects our commitment to offering competitive compensation packages that attract top talent in the field.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated social worker to join our Emergency Duty Team (EDT). As part of this team, you will work alongside colleagues on a rotational shift pattern, covering 126.5 hours of the operational working week. You will be based at Abingdon Police Station, co-located with Thames Valley Police.

  • Provide high-quality responses to emergency referrals outside normal working hours.
  • Work a rotational shift pattern, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
  • Offer appropriate support and interventions to vulnerable adults, children, and families addressing safeguarding concerns.
  • Offer out-of-hours advice and guidance to professionals, as well as factually accurate and reflective reports.
  • Be the first point of contact for professionals, vulnerable adults, children, families, or members of the public with concerns that cannot wait until normal office hours resume.
  • Conduct thorough, high-quality crisis-led assessments for children and families, promptly identifying level of risk, need, and services required to promote safe outcomes.

You will apply legal and professional knowledge and skills, balancing protection, risk, and support to achieve positive outcomes for those requiring our service.

Our Work Pattern

Your pattern is carefully managed, fair, and equitable, with a combination of 'block' shift patterns. Shifts include:

Mon – Thursday: 5pm – 12:00 or 12:00 – 8.30am

Friday: 4 – 12:00 or 12: -8.30am

Weekends: 8.30am-5pm or 5pm-12:00 or 12:00 – 8.30am
