About the Role

This is a part-time role of 18 hours per week, with the potential to become full-time in the near future. As a School Liaison Officer, you will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with local schools and colleges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and develop strong working partnerships with specified local schools and colleges.
  • Ensure the safe and orderly conduct of students attending Harlech and Tywyn schools and Pwllheli college while travelling on Transport for Wales services and stations during school term times.
  • Assist high schools with the issuing of pupil travel passes as required at the beginning of the September school term.
  • Assist Conductors on train services as required out of school term times.
  • Assist Transport for Wales in operating trains in a safe and timely manner and provide help and information to all customers.
  • Maintain a high profile and be proactive in preventing anti-social behaviour on Transport for Wales services.
  • Engage with local schools and colleges to deliver rail safety and behaviour expectations.
  • Assist with local event planning and promoting Transport for Wales services.
Requirements
  • A flexible individual who can meet shift working requirements, including occasional weekend working.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Understanding of the importance of rules, regulations, and strict instructions.
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm and responsible under pressure and in difficult situations.
  • GCSE or equivalent, including a grade of C or above in Mathematics and English.
Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak and write Welsh would be a great asset, but it is not essential for this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language and encourages employees to develop and improve their skills.
