About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Protection Specialist to join our Independent Safeguarding Unit. As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the best outcomes for our most vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Chairing multi-agency initial and review child protection conferences
  • Tracking the progress of plans for children and young people
  • Providing advice, guidance, and challenge to staff to ensure positive outcomes
  • Implementing the Signs of Safety practice model and contributing to maintaining practice standards

You will work closely with children's social care teams and other IROs in the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Team.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified social worker with significant experience of working within statutory child care settings. You should have a sound, up-to-date knowledge of children and young people's legislation, policies, and procedures, court work, and assessments.

Previous experience as an Independent Reviewing Officer or supervising others is ideal. You should be able to work calmly and constructively under pressure in a multi-disciplinary arena, communicate and engage with children, young people, and their parents/carers.
