About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Receptionist to join our team at Blackburn Road Medical Practice. As a key member of our front desk team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm and welcoming experience for patients, responding to their queries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage patient appointments, including booking, editing, and canceling appointments as needed.
  • Process patient requests for medical records, test results, and other documents.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and data protection at all times.
  • Assist with general administration tasks, such as data entry, filing, and photocopying.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Work collaboratively with the practice team to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • GCSEs at grade C or equivalent (or 4-9), including English and Maths
  • Training in administration/clerical duties at NVQ level or above
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Customer Services or Health Care or related discipline
  • Experience of working in a primary care setting
  • Computer literate with an ability to use Emis Web and Microsoft Office and NHS net
  • General office skills, photocopier, scanning, shredding
  • Attention to detail, able to work accurately, identifying errors quickly and easily
  • Excellent understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with team members, patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals, with the ability to adjust communication style
  • Committed to own continuing personal development and an ability to support others to develop and progress

  • Has a planned and organised approach with an ability to prioritise their own workload to meet strict deadlines
