Role Overview

The successful candidate will play a key role in the conservation and enhancement of Harrow's biodiversity and approach to natural capital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on biodiversity, ecology and nature conservation issues affecting planning policy, development and land use.
  • Support the implementation of the Council's Climate & Nature Strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with other service areas and external partners to ensure effective management of key Council owned sites.
  • Coordinate delivery of biodiversity and natural capital enhancement projects.
  • Ensure the delivery, update and promotion of Harrow's Biodiversity Action Plan.
  • Monitor progress, implement action plans and engage with partners to deliver actions on non-Council sites.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policy and promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Participate in Investors in People and individual performance appraisal and development initiatives.
  • Identify potential funding sources, develop bids and secure additional funding to further develop biodiversity work.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree or equivalent combination of experience and other qualifications.
  • Excellent understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain and Biodiversity Action Plan process.
  • Awareness of relevant legislation, national and regional policy.
  • Knowledge of land management techniques and practical conservation work.
  • Knowledge of Planning, protected species and habitats.
  • Experience advising on biodiversity issues and preparing reports.

Contract Details

  • Initial 3 to 6 month ongoing contract with opportunity to extend.
  • PAYE via Umbrella.
  • Monday to Friday 9am to 5:00pm.
