SEN Teacher for ASD/SLD Students

Are you passionate about inclusive education and ready to make a profound impact on the educational journey of ASD/SLD students? We are seeking a Special Educational Needs, Secondary Teacher for a vibrant school with students aged 4-19 in Lambeth, specializing in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
The successful applicant will be responsible for creating individualized learning plans that focus on developing student independence and understanding of accessing the local community and life skills.
The salary for this role is estimated to be around £35,000-£45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Job OverviewOur school provides a range of unique enabling environments, both indoor and outdoor, which are used to maximize learning opportunities and meet pupils' specific needs.
The curriculum allows students to gain independence and life skills and is tailored to prepare them for adulthood through education and employment, healthy lifestyles, friendships, and independent living.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Post 16 Teacher, your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing personalized lesson plans for students in these classes.
- Fostering a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Monitoring and assessing student progress, adapting approaches as necessary.
- Engaging with parents and caregivers to support student development at home and in school.
- Working with and leading a support team within the classroom.
- Collaborating with local organizations to develop and integrate students into the local community.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of ASD and SLD students.
- Experience working in a special needs education setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
