Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Road Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Griffiths. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing operational duties as part of a quality highways and street lighting service.

About the Role
  • This role involves carrying out installation, maintenance, and routine work for a full range of highway apparatus and assets.
  • The Highways Operative will report directly to the Operations Manager and work on various schemes and projects located throughout North Wales.
  • A requirement of this role is to be on a stand-by/call out rota to attend to emergencies and reactive work outside of normal working hours as required.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Construction, including widening and repairing of roads, cycleways, and footways.
  2. Installation and repair of kerbs, edgings, block, and flagged paving.
  3. Repairing potholes and cracks in surfacing.
  4. Maintaining roadside verges.
  5. Excavating and reinstating trenches for duct and drainage installation.
  6. Working on the installation and repairs to inspection chambers, road gullies, drainage, and ducted systems.
  7. When required, working on excavators, dumpers, rollers, and telehandlers.
Requirements
  • Prior experience in civils works, operating machinery, and working on the highway.
  • A full understanding of utility drawings and the dangers of damaging underground and overhead services.
  • Experience of being an HGV Class 2 driver and NPORS or City and Guilds qualifications in gritter and snowplough for winter maintenance operations, or a willingness and commitment to train for this.
  • A willingness and commitment to work out of normal working hours as part of a rota system in all seasons.
  • Prior experience as a Plant Operator or a willingness and commitment to train for this role as required.
  • A CSCS card.

The estimated salary for this role is £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
