Highways Maintenance Technician

We are seeking an experienced Highways Maintenance Technician to join our team at Griffiths. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and operation of machinery on the highway.
The role involves performing various tasks including construction, installation, and repair of roads, cycleways, and footways. This includes kerb and edging works, as well as surfacing repairs and maintenance of roadside verges.
In addition to this, the successful candidate will be responsible for excavating and reinstating trenches for duct and drainage installation. The role also requires participation in a standby/call out rota to attend to emergencies and reactive work outside of normal working hours as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out construction, installation, and repair works on highways, cycleways, and footways
- Maintaining and repairing kerbs, edgings, block paving, and flagged surfaces
- Repairing potholes and cracks in road surfaces
- Maintaining roadside verges
- Excavating and reinstating trenches for duct and drainage installations
Requirements:
- A minimum of 1 year's experience in civil engineering and operating machinery on the highway
- Familiarity with utility drawings and understanding of the risks associated with damaging underground and overhead services
- HGV Class 2 driver's license and relevant certifications for winter maintenance operations
- CSCS card
