Job Title: Strategic Development Manager

Ards and North Down Borough Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Development Manager to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex and ambitious strategic projects aimed at improving the Borough, its City, Towns, and Villages.
  • Ensure alignment between projects and the Council's Corporate Plan priorities.
  • Collaborate with external funders, identify new funding opportunities, and manage governance processes.
  • Oversee redevelopment projects, either solely by the Council or in partnership with other entities.

Service Unit Responsibilities:

  • Manage the effective planning, delivery, and evaluation of designated regeneration projects and programmes.
  • Identify, apply for, and manage external funding opportunities.
  • Establish processes to optimize funding across various strategic projects.
  • Lead and manage the development of business cases, project plans, and processes to meet project aims and ensure legislative compliance.

Generic Service Unit Manager Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Service to develop and implement Service Plans and other relevant policies.
  • Develop robust plans for submission to relevant funding bodies.
  • Manage and review team performance, fostering skills and knowledge development.
  • Maximize team performance, including through effective performance management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area (e.g., Economic/Business/Regeneration Development, or Leadership).
  • One year of experience in Project Management/Programme Delivery, community/stakeholder consultation, and working with central government departments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage a multidisciplinary team.

Working Arrangements:

The post holder may be expected to work outside normal hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays, as dictated by the needs of the service.
