About Springfield School

Springfield School is a specialist institution in Oxfordshire, dedicated to providing high-quality education for children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), or Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We cater to 117 pupils, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Our curriculum is designed to foster independence, communication, skills for learning and life, and is tailored to meet the unique needs of each pupil. Our Ofsted report highlights our commitment to delivering engaging and enriching opportunities.

We believe in collaboration and partnership, working closely with parents, carers, and professionals to promote support and share best practices. Our multi-professional team includes a Special School Nurse, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Physiotherapists.

Teaching Requirements:

  • DfE recognised Qualified Teacher Status
  • Experience teaching pupils with SLD, PMLD, and/or ASC
  • Evidence of recent professional development relating to special needs
  • Ability to maximise ICT use for teaching and professional duties

About the Role

This part-time (0.6) fixed-term contract is up to 12 months for maternity cover. Key objectives include:

  • Upholding and contributing to the school's vision and aims, supporting the ethos and mission
  • Developing and reviewing school policies, then upholding and working within them as agreed
  • Planning the curriculum with colleagues, ensuring high-quality learning for pupils
  • Delivering lessons to stimulate and motivate pupils' learning
  • Reporting on pupils' progress
