Mental Health Teaching Assistant Role Summary

Academics Ltd is seeking a committed and empathetic individual to fill the position of Learning Support Assistant in our Alternative Provision setting.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to form strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

The estimated salary for this position is between £23,000 and £25,600 per annum, dependent on experience.

Main Duties:
  1. Collaborate closely with teachers to develop and implement tailored support plans for students with diverse needs.
  2. Build trust with students, families, and other professionals to foster a culture of mutual respect and cooperation.
  3. Contribute to lesson planning, delivery, and assessment to guarantee students receive a high-quality education.
  4. Provide personalized support to students with complex needs, encompassing Autism, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Hold an Undergraduate Degree (desirable) and/or possess relevant SEN experience, ideally suited for graduates in Criminology and Psychology.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of mental health and its implications on individuals, particularly girls and boys.
  • Possess good general educational qualifications in English and Maths, with a minimum of 5 grades and above.
  • Nurture a strong interest in extracurricular activities that promote personal growth and skill development - Sports, Cooking, Coding, Dance, Hairdressing, Photography.
  • Show a genuine enthusiasm for exploring various learning and behavioral needs (SEMH aspects of the provision).
