Financial Compliance Specialist

Position Title: Financial Compliance Specialist at Commonwealth of Virginia
This is an excellent opportunity to become a part of the Commonwealth of Virginia team as a Financial Compliance Specialist. In this capacity, you will be integral to the financial services division, undertaking a variety of accounting responsibilities. Reporting to the Financial Services Manager, your duties will include ensuring precise processing of financial entries and modifications, assessing grants to fulfill reimbursement criteria, interpreting reporting obligations for grants, and rectifying accounting discrepancies. Additionally, you will maintain adherence to various regulatory bodies, conduct reconciliations, prepare financial statements, and support the annual audit process.
- Precisely process financial entries and modifications utilizing agency accounting software and the Commonwealth Accounting and Reporting System.
- Evaluate grants to guarantee prompt reimbursement.
- Interpret reporting obligations for grants and compile pertinent information for cash requests.
- Rectify grant and contract-related accounting discrepancies.
- Ensure adherence to various regulatory bodies.
- Conduct reconciliations, prepare financial statements, and assist in audits.
Essential Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of grants and contracts management, the capability to analyze financial data, interpret accounting principles, meet deadlines, effectively utilize financial technology and software, prepare financial statements, and communicate proficiently, along with experience in financial data management.
Additional Considerations:
Experience within a higher education institution or state government agency is preferred.
