About the Job

We are seeking a skilled nurse to join our team in the Kangaroo Ward, a 9-bedded respiratory unit caring for children and young people with long-term invasive and non-invasive ventilation and complex care needs. As a Respiratory Nurse Specialist, you will work as a valued member of our nursing team, providing high-quality holistic care to our patients and their families.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have experience working with acute/chronically sick children or specialized transferable skills, and a strong understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing. Key responsibilities will include:
  • Providing a high standard of family-centered care to children, young people, and families.
  • Taking charge of the ward in the absence of senior nursing staff, following achievement of required competence.
  • Familiarizing themselves with and adopting the principles of the NHS Chief Nursing Officers vision for Compassion in Practice.
  • Contributing to achieving the 'Great Ormond Street Hospital Vision for Nursing.'
