Bereavement Support Specialist

We provide psychological and emotional support to patients and their loved ones, working closely with them to address complex grief.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage referrals to the bereavement counselling service and assess clients for suitability.
- Coordinate student and volunteer placements, providing group clinical supervision and individual counselling as needed.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care.
- Develop relationships with colleges and training institutions to support student placements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic records of client interactions and student progress.
- Communicate risks and concerns to senior medical and psychosocial teams.
- Attend regular supervision meetings and professional training events to maintain expertise.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Recognised diploma or degree in counselling or psychotherapy.
- BACP accreditation or working towards accreditation.
- Experience in bereavement counselling and complex grief interventions.
- Clinical supervision experience.
- Good knowledge of theoretical approaches to counselling.
- Understanding of data protection and confidentiality.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience of working in a hospice or palliative care setting.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Outlook.
