Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Job Description:

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join our team of professionals.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with SEMH needs. Your primary responsibilities will include providing one-on-one and small group support, adapting resources and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs, and fostering a supportive classroom atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement personalized support plans to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with teachers to deliver engaging and accessible lessons, adapting resources and teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with SEMH needs.
  • Contribute to creating a safe and stimulating learning environment that promotes social skills, self-esteem, and curiosity.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance academic and social development.
  • Support students during break times and extracurricular activities to promote social skills and enhance self-esteem.

Requirements:

  • Desirable experience as an SEMH Teaching Assistant or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of individual students and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Passion for working with children with SEMH needs.
