About the Role:

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in South Yorkshire. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage with the curriculum and achieve their potential.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes emotional well-being and resilience.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to reports for parents and carers.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH issues and effective strategies for supporting students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEMH support or related fields.
