Data Science Engineer for Weather and Climate Research

We are seeking a talented Data Science Engineer to join our team at the Met Office, where you will play a key role in developing and applying machine learning algorithms to enhance weather and climate research.
Your primary responsibility will be to contribute to the development of software engineering practices for machine learning projects in the National Capability domain. This includes working with researchers and operational experts to understand requirements for platforms and tools, as well as sharing your knowledge through internal and external channels.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from science to technology, and make a real impact on the world.
The estimated annual salary for this position is £37,776, which includes a Civil Service pension and Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) of £2,200 per annum.
As a member of our team, you will benefit from an excellent work-life balance, with options for hybrid working and up to 32.5 days of annual leave.
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong understanding of software engineering principles and experience with machine learning frameworks. You should also be able to communicate complex technical ideas effectively and collaborate with others to achieve shared goals.
