We are looking for an experienced Senior Workforce Development Manager to join our team at ENGINEERINGUK. As a key member of our workforce development department, you will be responsible for advancing the skills and effectiveness of our coach developers, driving professional standards of coach development practice, and ensuring a culture of ongoing personal development is embedded within day-to-day coach developer practice.

  • The estimated salary for this role is £60,000-£70,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing a comprehensive workforce development strategy for our FA coach developer workforce.
  • You will ensure all coach development work complies with relevant UEFA coaching convention regulations, safety standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Additionally, you will design, develop, and integrate a licensing system that meets the needs of modern coach development.
  • You will identify and analyse the support and development needs of our full-time coach developer team to ensure they are accessing appropriate and impactful development support.
  • As part of your role, you will establish an innovative and collaborative system to measure coach development effectiveness and associated individual development plans (IDPs) that support effective utilisation, deployment, and improvement.
Responsibilities:
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive workforce development strategy for the FA coach developer workforce is a key responsibility.
  • You will ensure all coach development work complies with relevant UEFA coaching convention regulations, safety standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Designing, developing, and integrating a licensing system that meets the needs of modern coach development is another important aspect of your role.
  • You will identify and analyse the support and development needs of our full-time coach developer team to ensure they are accessing appropriate and impactful development support.
  • Establishing an innovative and collaborative system to measure coach development effectiveness and associated individual development plans (IDPs) that support effective utilisation, deployment, and improvement is also part of your responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in sports coaching, sports science, or sports administration is required.
  • You must have in-depth knowledge of coach development methodologies and adult learning principles, particularly in designing and delivering development programs aimed at coach developers in a football environment.
  • A proven ability to mentor, guide, and support coach developers, helping them refine their mentoring, teaching, and leadership practices to better develop other coaches is essential.
  • You should have strong understanding of contemporary coaching trends, tactics, and methodologies, including the integration of sports science, performance analysis, and player development theories into coaching programs.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience managing and developing teams, particularly in a coaching or educational environment, to drive improvements in coach development practices are necessary.
