About the Job

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Healthcare Support Specialist in our busy GP practice.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Acknowledge patient attendance within 2/3 minutes and advise queued patients of self-check-in.
  • Advise waiting patients of delays and offer assistance.
  • Observe late appointments and advise waiting patients.
  • Handle general enquiries, explain procedures and make appointments using EMIS.
  • Ensure patients with urgent needs are seen logically and non-disruptively.
  • Register new patients on the electronic system promptly and accurately.
  • Be aware of surroundings and respond to patient needs.
  • Know Clinicians' working status and arrival times.
  • Explain practice arrangements to new patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and make telephone calls on behalf of the practice and patients.
  • Divert calls and take messages with accuracy and prompt delivery.
  • Enter home visit requests into EMIS and record relevant details.
  • Action repeat prescription requests within 48 hours.
  • Receive and send urine and blood samples according to practice procedures.
  • Complete daily admin tasks and report concerns.
  • Check and respond to practice emails daily.

Requirements:

  • Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Word processing/IT Qualifications or equivalent experience/knowledge.

Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
