Job Title: Technical Consultant

We are seeking a skilled Technical Consultant to join our team at Legal & General. As a Technical Consultant, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing our claims philosophies, techniques, and practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and document claims philosophies, techniques, and practices to ensure we remain at the forefront of best industry practice.
  • Support the training team in developing and delivering training on legislative, regulatory, or process changes to maintain staff quality and competency.
  • Conduct and deliver regular monthly audits of claims outcomes for Group Protection products and Income Protection Benefit to ensure consistent, fair, and acceptable decision-making and service.
  • Provide comprehensive assessments of Group Protection and Income Protection claims appeals, deciding whether to accept or reject appeals while meeting financial advisor and corporate client expectations.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge on technical claims issues and regulatory/legislative issues and serve as a point of reference for the teams.
Requirements:
  • Experience and knowledge of handling appeals, complaints, dealing with regulators, and undertaking quality assurance audits within Group Risk Products.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets.
  • Team working skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Desirable: Financial services background with proven experience in managing audits, complaints, appeals, and dealing with the Financial Ombudsman Service.
