Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Consultant to join our team at Legal & General. As a Technical Consultant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and consistency of our claims and group protection business areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Maintain Claims Philosophies: Develop, document, and review our claims philosophies, techniques, and practices to ensure we remain at the forefront of best industry practice.
  • Support Training and Development: Collaborate with the training team to develop and deliver training on legislative, regulatory, or process changes to ensure the quality and competency of staff.
  • Conduct Audits and Reviews: Conduct regular monthly audits of the outcomes made by the claims teams in relation to group protection products and income protection benefits.
  • Provide Expertise and Guidance: Provide a comprehensive assessment of group protection and income protection claims appeals, deciding whether to accept or reject the appeal.
  • Maintain Expert Knowledge: Maintain an expert level of knowledge on all technical claims issues and regulatory/legislative issues.

Requirements:

  • Experience and Knowledge: Proven experience and knowledge of handling appeals, complaints, dealing with regulators, and undertaking quality assurance audits within group risk products.
  • Communication and Teamwork Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and targets.
  • Financial Services Background: A financial services background with proven experience of managing audits, complaints, appeals, and dealing with the Financial Ombudsman Service is desirable.
