Job Title: Technical & Governance Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical & Governance Consultant to join our team at Legal & General. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in driving continuous change and improvement across our Claims and Group Protection business areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain our Claims philosophies, techniques, and practices to ensure we remain at the forefront of industry best practice.
  • Support the training team in developing and delivering training on legislative, regulatory, or process changes to maintain staff quality and competency.
  • Conduct regular audits of Claims team outcomes for Group Protection products and Income Protection Benefit, ensuring consistent, fair, and acceptable decision-making and service delivery to customers.
  • Provide comprehensive assessments of Group Protection and Income Protection claims appeals, deciding whether to accept or reject appeals while meeting financial advisor and corporate client expectations.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge on technical Claims issues and regulatory/legislative matters, serving as a point of reference for teams.
Requirements:
  • Experience and knowledge of handling appeals, complaints, dealing with regulators, and undertaking quality assurance audits within Group Risk Products.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets.
  • Strong team working skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Desirable: Proven experience of managing audits, complaints, appeals, and dealing with the Financial Ombudsman Service, with a financial services background.
