Job Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Quality Control Laboratory Assistant to join our team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. As a Quality Control Laboratory Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Quality Control Department in providing pharmaceutical and scientific services to NHS Trusts, private healthcare providers, and commercial organizations.

The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work accurately and concentrate on repetitive tasks. You will be responsible for dealing with customers and health professionals on a first-line contact/response basis, answering phone calls, receiving and logging samples, processing documentation, samples, and products, and dispatching them to customers.

Main Duties of the Job

The main duties of the Quality Control Laboratory Assistant role include:

  • Dealing with customers and health professionals on a first-line contact/response basis
  • Answering phone calls, receiving and logging samples, processing documentation, samples, and products, and dispatching them to customers
  • Physical, chemical, and microbiological testing and microbiology media preparation

Person Specification

The person specification for the Quality Control Laboratory Assistant role includes:

  • Relevant NVQ 2 or equivalent level of relevant work experience
  • Previous relevant experience
  • Experience of working in a science-based laboratory environment (desirable)
