Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter/Underwriting Manager to join our team at Starr Insurance Companies. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for writing profitable General Liability business in line with our underwriting plan, using your professional judgment to achieve target premium revenue, return on premium, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite complex General Liability risks, utilizing advanced knowledge of specific classes of business, market wordings and clauses, and reinsurance practices.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to optimize business opportunities and grow market share.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of underwriting data and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and report on portfolio performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance profitability.
  • Collaborate with the CUO to develop and implement underwriting strategies, including reinsurance planning and risk management.
  • Provide technical coaching and guidance to team members to develop their competence and careers.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of General Liability insurance and reinsurance practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with ability to build strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of success in underwriting and risk management, with ability to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Strong technical skills, with proficiency in Eclipse, Salesforce, and MS Office.
