We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter and Business Development Specialist to join our team at Rokstone Underwriting. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for reviewing complex submissions, conducting research, and determining the degree of risk for each account.
Key Responsibilities- Reviewing complex submissions, including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports to determine the degree of risk for each account.
- Calculating appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs inherent to the respective sector, reinsurance cessions, and underwriting and general administration costs while ensuring profitability.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with brokers and clients, developing new business opportunities, and identifying, implementing, and managing Coverholder arrangements that are within appetite.
- Supporting the business planning and forecasting process, monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits, and monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
- Maintaining awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in the insurance industry.
- Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications or other relevant qualifications are a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Clear aptitude for teamwork, planning, and organizing.
