About the Role

Wellcome Trust is seeking a highly skilled Strategic People Lead to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering Wellcome's People framework to support the organization's mission. This role requires a strong understanding of organizational culture, values, and behaviors.

The Strategic People Lead will ensure that Wellcome attracts, retains, develops, and drives performance in talented individuals who deliver the organization's mission. They will also lead on embedding Wellcome's culture, values, and behaviors across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure optimal organizational culture for delivering the mission, including improving engagement with and connection to the mission.
  • Create a high-performing organization by delivering leadership development initiatives and developing metrics that enable fact-based decisions on strategic people matters and indicate the effectiveness of operational teams.
  • Lead on change and transformation projects from a people perspective, harnessing the power of technology and AI to shape and enhance colleague experience and the way people work at Wellcome.
  • Act as a sounding-board, coach, and confidante on people matters for the Executive Committee and Extended Executive Group.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director Equity and EDI team to implement agreed EDI strategies across the whole organization.
  • Participate in, influence, and inform Boards, committees, internal, and external stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure that processes are efficient, flexible, and fit for purpose, while ensuring appropriate governance so that the People function's activities are managed in line with Wellcome's compliance policies and risk appetite.
  • Maintain effective operational support teams (People Ops, Health and Safety), with a drive and passion for customer service.

Estimated salary: £120,000 - £150,000 per annum.
