About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Wildlife Department Manager to join our team at ZSL London Zoo. In this role, you will coordinate the operational, financial, and administrative activities of the Zoological Department.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Meeting Coordination: Schedule meetings for the department, including arranging travel, rotas, and service contracts.
  2. Digital Asset Management: Consolidate and store digital assets within ZSL's data management systems.
  3. Financial Processes: Process equipment and purchase requests on Zoological credit cards and reconcile accounts monthly.
  4. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, working closely with staff and departments.
  5. Student Support: Organize logistics, timetables, and support for RVC ZHM Track rotation students and other students.
  6. Invoicing and Transfers: Oversee departmental invoicing and country transfers, liaising with managers and the ZSL Accounts Payable team as needed.
  7. Grant Proposals: Assist with grant proposals, legal agreements, and ad hoc requests.
  8. Animal Welfare Committee: Coordinate Animal Welfare Zoo Ethics Committee meetings, symposia, conferences, workshops, fundraising events, and meetings.
  9. Content Management: Write monthly ex-situ conservation and science highlights, maintain project information up-to-date, update, manage, and release content on ZSL zoological social media accounts.
  10. Capacity Development: Support capacity development in ex-situ and in-situ conservation professionals, veterinarians, and students through our zoos and unique education environment.
  11. Partnerships: Coordinate partnerships with BIAZA, EAZA, WAZA, Conservation Planning Specialist Group, Species360 Conservation Alliance, IUCN Specialists Groups, Royal Veterinary College (RVC), and Defra.
  12. Skill Requirements: Demonstrate experience in managing financial processes, prior administration experience, database management skills, and high computer literacy.
