We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead the development of our Data Research Platform. This platform will handle sensitive patient, lab, and pathogen genomic data in secure environments, including cloud, regional data centers, and edge deployments.

Job Description:

This role requires a visionary leader who can design and implement a scalable, robust, and secure platform architecture, driving innovation in platform functionality while ensuring compliance with industry-leading standards.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data platforms, with a focus on scalability, security, and performance. They should also have experience working with diverse teams, including scientists, engineers, legal professionals, and external partners.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement a federated, secure, and scalable Data Research Platform to manage sensitive genomic, clinical, and laboratory data.
  2. Collaborate with the Science Team and other internal stakeholders to ensure the platform meets their research and data access requirements.
  3. Ensure the platform adheres to all relevant legal, security, and regulatory frameworks.
  4. Oversee the platform's operations, including data governance, security monitoring, disaster recovery planning, and performance optimization.
  5. Build and lead a multidisciplinary team of data engineers and platform architects to execute the platform strategy effectively.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data platforms.
  • In-depth understanding of data standards and data systems for genomic, clinical, or laboratory data.
  • Understanding of solutions and challenges in managing globally distributed data sets.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection laws and secure data handling.
  • Experience leading teams of engineers or platform specialists.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
