About the Role

New Look is a leading fashion retailer with a rich history dating back to the 1960s. We're on the hunt for a talented individual to join our growing Marketplace team as an Assistant Buyer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Buyer in delivering a profitable range that will be sold through the Marketplace model, ensuring margin and profit targets are always met.
  • Manage outstanding orders and support the Assistant Merch with PO commitment for each marketplace, replacing cancellations where possible and managing line detail.
  • Develop a sound understanding of the Business Strategy and its impact on the Department.
  • Oversee the development of the marketplace admin assistant, managing them and their daily tasks, including CP management.
  • Monitor returns rates and take necessary action, escalating to the Buyer when issues arise at MG and style level.
  • Work closely with the Buying Merchandising Department to support the Buyer in trading the range in-season, based on sales performance, returns, and trends.
  • Build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
  • Take ownership of selected marketing groups to select a profitable range from the core New Look selection.

Requirements

  • Able to support the Buyer in building a comprehensive product range.
  • Understanding of supply chain issues and costs, including product lead times, flexibility, and supplier capability.
  • Able to support:
    • Understanding of the marketplace setup.
    • Understanding of the strategic needs of the division.
    • Understanding of the New Look brand and sub-brand strategy and key customer.
    • A knowledge of the current competitive international marketplaces (comparative shopping).
    • Understanding of BMD launch plans and phasing.
    • Ability to identify relevant product trends in the global retail marketplace (directional shopping).
    • Basic knowledge of the elements that make up the cost of a product.
    • Ability to review sales data and suggest commercial recommendations to the Buyer and Merchandiser.
