About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Marketplace Buyer to join our growing Marketplace team at New Look. As a key member of our buying team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Buyer to deliver a profitable range that will be sold through the Marketplace model.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Buyer to deliver the strategy, ensuring margin and profit targets are always met.
  • Manage outstanding orders and support the Assistant Merch with PO commitment for each marketplace, replacing cancellations where possible and managing line detail.
  • Develop a sound understanding of the Business Strategy and how it impacts your Department.
  • Take ownership of the development of the marketplace admin assistant, managing them and overseeing their daily tasks including CP management.
  • Monitor returns rates and take necessary action, escalating to the Buyer when there are issues at MG and style level.
  • Work closely with Business Development to support the Buyer to trade the range in-season, based on sales performance, returns, and trends.
  • Build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
  • Take ownership of selected marketing groups to select a profitable range from the core New Look selection.

Technical Knowledge & Experience

  • Able to support the Buyer to build a comprehensive product range.
  • Understanding of supply chain issues/cost – (product lead times/flexibility/supplier capability).

Requirements

  • Understanding of the marketplace setup.
  • Understanding of the strategic needs of the division.
  • Understanding of the New Look brand and sub-brand strategy and key customer.
  • A knowledge of the current competitive international marketplaces (comparative shopping).
  • Understanding of Business Development launch plans and phasing.
  • Ability to identify relevant product trends in global retail marketplaces (directional shopping).
  • Basic knowledge of the elements that make up the cost of a product.
  • Ability to review sales data and suggest commercial recommendations to the Buyer and Merchandiser.
