The Southwark Council's All-Age Disability (0-25) Service is seeking a dedicated Family Support Specialist to join its Positive Behaviour Support team. This role offers a brilliant opportunity to be part of a close-knit team, that supports children, young people, and adults with disabilities to increase their independence and quality of life.
About the Role:
As a Family Support Specialist, you will work directly with families to build their confidence and skills in implementing effective behaviour and communication strategies at home or in the community. You'll work collaboratively with family support networks, conducting functional behaviour assessments, setting achievable goals, and designing personalised support plans.
We are looking for candidates with experience working with children, young people, or adults who have learning disabilities and/or autism and may display behaviours that challenge. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you'll work closely with families and various professionals.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A deep understanding of learning disabilities and autism and how they impact behaviour and communication
- Hands-on experience with Positive Behaviour Support or Applied Behaviour Analysis interventions
- A genuine enthusiasm for working with individuals with disabilities and a passion for making a difference
**Salary:** £41,580 - £47,628 per annum
This permanent full-time position requires a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an Enhanced level. We offer a supportive and inclusive environment where you can grow and develop your skills.
