Skilled Mechanical Technician Wanted for Exciting Engineering Role

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our talented Technical Services Team at the Eden Project. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the maintenance and upgrading of our engineering systems, infrastructure & plumbing.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for site planned maintenance and servicing of all mechanical & fluid systems and infrastructure across the Eden Project and its associated sites. You will actively contribute to the education and enjoyment of visitors by ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Installs, maintains, repairs and safely operates site mechanical fluid systems and all associated equipment, including industrial pipework, valves & fittings, and domestic plumbing systems.
- Maintains Plantroom Pumps, Site Heating systems, Water Services, Air Handling Units (AHU's), taps, sinks and the operation of our Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Conducts diagnostic checks to fault find & maintain or replace various site items as required, and works alongside outside subcontractors when needed.
- Produces Risk Assessments and job Method Statements, and works within Eden's Permit systems when conducting maintenance, installation or repairs.
- Assists other teams within the Eden Project, where mechanical technician skills and expertise are required to support events, displays, exhibitions and research projects.
- Assists with the day-to-day supervision and education of new staff, trainees and volunteers, ensuring all activities are carried out with adequate instruction while satisfying the relevant Health & Safety regulations.
- Actively engages and interacts with visitors, answering questions, providing guidance and imparting knowledge to promote the Eden ethos of cultivation, conservation and education.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in mechanical installation, pumps, pipework & plantroom maintenance. A qualified Mechanical Engineer with an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an industry recognized plumbing or mechanical engineering qualification is essential. You must also hold a current full driving license and have good general mechanical & electrical skills, including diagnostic skills.
