This is an exciting new opportunity for an apprentice to join our small fundraising team and support the administration, delivery and development of a range of individual giving activities.
Fundraising plays an essential role towards fulfilling Eden’s mission to create a future we all want to live in. You’ll play a key part in communicating our mission to and inspiring our donors, as well as undertaking market and competitor research in order to identify potential new fundraising opportunities for Eden.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual, with a good level of organisation and creative thinking.
One day per week will be spent studying towards a Level 3 qualification in Fundraising.

If you do not have your own transport available you should consider how you will travel to work, as Eden is in a rural location and public transport is not always available.

Role Purpose
The post holder will support the delivery of Eden’s exciting range of Individual Giving fundraising activities while learning about the wider fundraising sector. The post holder will also have the opportunity to become part of, and actively contribute to, a small, successful and friendly team.
No previous fundraising experience is necessary as full training will be given. The Key Accountabilities listed below form the core elements of the work that you will be trained to do.
As an Eden Project Apprentice you will spend on average 6 hours a week studying a taught element delivered by one of our partner training providers. Each month you will also take part in our Sustainable Enterprise programme which helps you develop a range of skills, from teamwork to communication, alongside fellow apprentices from a range of disciplines. There are also opportunities to gain experience working with a variety of other teams, to get a fuller understanding of how your department fits within the larger organisation and how your role contributes to our mission.

Key Accountabilities

2. Recruit new donors and encourage high levels of retention through the delivery of excellent donor relations and engaging communications across a variety of methods including CRM, digital, print, telephone marketing and supporting face to face meetings and events.
3. Support the administration and delivery of Eden’s Individual Giving schemes, ensuring all relevant legislation (e.g. Code of Fundraising Practice and GDPR) is followed. Use fundraising tools and products such as JustGiving, GiveALittle and CAF to monitor fundraising activity and run reports.

4. Help identify ways to increase the profitability and profile of existing revenue streams, undertaking competitor and market research to sat abreast of industry trends and new fundraising innovation opportunities.

5. Lead, under supervision of the Individual Giving Officer, on the creation and delivery of new and expanded fundraising products.

6. Carry out other tasks which may be reasonably requested by team colleagues.

Demands of the Role
Education & qualifications
Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent is desirable, with good literacy and numeracy skills. Maths and English Functional Skills test will need to be passed as part of the apprenticeships if these GCSEs or equivalent are not held. The post holder must be comfortable studying for a level 3 (A Level equivalent) qualification. Full training will be given in the role.

Knowledge & skills
Experience of using standard IT equipment and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive). Confident verbal and written communication skills. Experience using databases or spreadsheets to keep records and produce reports is desirable, but not essential as full training will be given.

Decision-making

Operates within agreed individual objectives on a short-term basis. Organises and prioritises own work within established procedures, referring complex issues to senior colleagues. Reports daily to line manager. Decisions may require confidentiality and networking with organisation to develop the right outcome.

Resourcefulness

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, the role will largely work within defined parameters, however at times may require adaptive thinking and problem-solving. Highly organised and the ability to forward plan. Creativity is a desirable quality.
