About the Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional Strategic People Leader to join our team at Imperial College London. In this role, you will play a critical part in driving our HR strategy forward, working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

Job Overview

The Head of HR will be responsible for providing high-level people management, support, and development while advocating on behalf of all stakeholders within Natural Sciences. You will work in partnership with the Faculty Operating Officer and other Heads of HR to formulate, develop, and deliver HR plans and strategies that align with the university's needs and priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic support and guidance to departments within Natural Sciences, including academic departments, research centres, and central professional services teams.
  • Develop and implement people solutions aligned to business objectives and strategies, identifying HR priorities from the university and local departmental plans.
  • Lead, develop, and implement people strategy/plans and objectives in liaison with OD&I teams to deliver results reflecting environmental demands and best practice.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the legal framework within which HR operates and contribute to the development of HR policies in line with current legislation and best practice.
  • Take proactive measures to resolve complex departmental challenges, requiring nuanced approaches and high levels of interpersonal skills.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess significant experience in HR, particularly in developing and implementing HR strategies, handling organisational change, workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, and improving engagement and retention. Your expertise in embedding successful equality, diversity, and inclusion strategies, along with your knowledge of employment legislation and its application, will be invaluable.
