Job Title: Communications and Events Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications and Events Officer to join our team at ODI. As a key member of our Humanitarian Policy Group, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of policy and communications activities, including events, to increase the impact of our humanitarian and conflict research.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective communications strategies to promote our research and policy engagement activities.
  • Coordinate and deliver high-quality events, including in-person and hybrid/global events, that convene with impact and drive forward our objectives.
  • Work closely with the Senior Communications and Policy Manager to project-manage the delivery of key outputs and activities, including media engagement, digital and multimedia content.
  • Develop relationships with communications partners and drive collaborative approaches to identify and attract diverse and quality speakers and thought leaders.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and learn from communications approaches to ensure continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrable knowledge and interest in humanitarian and conflict issues.
  • Experience in convening and organizing events, with a willingness to lead in this area.
  • Excellent planning and administrative skills, with a proven ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to generate plans and ideas and carry them through to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and communicate with colleagues at all levels of seniority and from different cultures.
