Job Title: Humanitarian Affairs Officer

MSF UK is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Humanitarian Affairs Officer to join our team. As a key member of our humanitarian affairs department, you will play a critical role in advocating for the needs of our patients and ensuring that our operations are safe and effective.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct data collection and research to provide reliable information for operational and advocacy decision-making.
  • Support the head of mission/medical coordinator and field coordinator/medical team leader in analyzing data to inform MSF's operations and advocacy.
  • Map and stay up-to-date on the strategies and activities of relevant NGOs, UN agencies, ICRC, donors, authorities, and other actors to inform MSF's decision-making.
  • Facilitate engagement with key external actors, including local authorities and local communities, to contribute to MSF's safe access to populations and coordination with other relevant actors.
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies and plans to address the health and humanitarian needs of the population.
  • Coordinate discussions, trainings, and briefings for country and project-level teams on advocacy, red flag monitoring, and relevant human rights and humanitarian issues.
  • Update key documents, including the Country Strategy and Country Risk Analysis.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as anthropology, social sciences, law, gender studies, or protection.
  • At least two years' experience working in humanitarian contexts, including conflict, disaster, or resource-poor environments, with MSF or another NGO.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and identify key issues, concerns, or trends.
  • Proficiency in English and one of the following languages: French, Arabic, or Spanish.
  • Excellent writing skills with a proven track record of drafting clear, concise documentation on sensitive or complex topics.
  • Ability to work independently and negotiate difficult situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to cope with stress and coordinate/prioritize workload under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Policy, advocacy, and/or campaigning experience.
  • Experience working with humanitarian protection issues or refugee/migrant case management.
  • Experience in networking and establishing relationships.
  • Experience in training and/or convening workshops on human rights, humanitarian law, and/or humanitarian principles.
  • Specialized expertise in areas such as gender, protection, SGBV, or specific country expertise in humanitarian contexts.
  • Digital literacy, including database design/analysis, MS package, and internet-based research.
