Technical Leadership Position in HVDC Control

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Leadership to join our Hitachi Energy team. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the cross-functional HVDC Control & Protection team based in Glasgow.
This is a hybrid role, with both office and home-based work opportunities. You will report directly to the UK Head of Engineering and be part of our global HVDC team.
Your Responsibilities
- Manage and develop our skilled Hardware & IT/OT team within UK HVDC Engineering.
- Drive continuous improvements, identifying efficiency gains and working methods to ensure methodical and predictable progress and progress reporting of HVDC Control & Protection Hardware & IT/OT deliveries.
- Provide direction to the teams on technology, safety, on-time delivery, quality, and margin improvement.
- Collaborate with local and global management to align on strategic and operational plans.
- Adapt and implement HVDC Control & Protection strategic initiatives to fit your team, achieving business alignment.
- Plan team and area composition, individual development, and competences needed to meet business needs, aligned with internal stakeholders and customers.
- Ensure quality output by taking ownership of developing and documenting work processes and monitoring process adherence within HVDC Control & Protection Hardware & IT/OT teams.
Your Background
- You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant technical field.
- You have a strong interest in management techniques, developing teams and individuals to unlock their potential or documented experience in project management, preferably within HVDC Control & Protection Hardware design or IT/OT deliveries content.
- You possess a passion for people and technology, are strong in decision-making, and have the right inner drive and self-management skills to take on full responsibility for your scope and deliver on time in a dynamic environment.
- You are communicative, engaged, and comfortable utilizing Teams and O365 suite to efficiently communicate with your team and beyond.
- You have an open, curious, and problem-solving mindset, enjoying improving or replacing existing processes, work methods, and tools if deemed necessary.
- You understand deadlines, budgetary constraints, and have a strong sense of responsibility, being comfortable making decisions for your team when needed.
Earning Potential: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
