Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom International Society for Industrial Ecology Full time
Postdoctoral Researcher in Sustainability

The International Society for Industrial Ecology seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to the BuildZero project. This five-year research initiative aims to transform the UK's building sector by reducing material extraction, carbon emissions, and waste.

This role involves developing new modelling tools and approaches to characterise the existing building stock in the UK. The successful candidate will combine physical building characteristics with usage patterns and energy performance data. By the end of the project, you will have identified key interventions to accelerate greenhouse gas emission reductions and material demand decrease in the UK building sector.

We are looking for candidates with a PhD (or near completion) in Engineering or a relevant technical field. Strong modelling and analytical skills, experience with Industrial Ecology tools, and the ability to work in interdisciplinary environments are essential. A salary range of £40,000-£55,000 per year reflects the industry standard for this position.

This full-time post is initially offered for two years, with a possibility of extension until the end of the five-year project. Please note that appointment at Research Associate level requires a PhD, while those awaiting award can be appointed as Research Assistants, which will be upgraded upon PhD receipt.
