Building Stock Analyst for Climate Change Mitigation

About the Project
The BuildZero project aims to undertake transformative research on the UK's building sector, working towards zero material extraction, zero carbon, and zero waste. As a Research Associate, you will contribute to this ambitious goal by developing new modelling tools and approaches to characterise the existing building stock in the UK.
This includes combining physical characterisation of buildings with their patterns of use and energy performance. You will also identify and prioritise key interventions in the UK building sector and its supply chain that lead to a faster reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and material demand.
Key Responsibilities:
- To develop new modelling tools and approaches to characterise the existing building stock in the UK;
- To combine physical characterisation of buildings with their patterns of use and energy performance;
- To identify and prioritise key interventions in the UK building sector and its supply chain that lead to a faster reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and material demand;
- To work effectively in interdisciplinary environments and collaborate with industrial and academic partners.
Requirements:
- A PhD in Engineering or a related field;
- Motivation to contribute to the impact of the BuildZero research output on climate change mitigation and material circularity;
- Modelling and analytical skills, experience working with tools of Industrial Ecology, and ability to work in interdisciplinary environments.
Salary and Benefits:
- A competitive salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum depending on experience;
