About Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) Programme

Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) is an exciting research programme involving leading UK universities and KTH Sweden, funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The programme aims to support investment in sustainable energy and transport systems to meet development priorities in the Global South. Key partner countries include Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, Lao PDR, Vietnam, and India.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Research Associate to join our team at International Society for Industrial Ecology. This fixed-term position is part of the CCG programme and will focus on modelling critical mineral supply chains to support low-carbon transition for energy and transport systems in developing countries.

Main Responsibilities

Conduct research on critical material production and supply chainsModel supply chain changes techno-economicallyProduce academic and policy writingCollaborate with institutions in selected CCG partner countries

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have a PhD in Engineering or a similar relevant technical field, and significant experience working in a postdoctoral position or equivalent experience. You will also possess knowledge and experience in environmental assessment, emissions accounting, programming languages (Python, MATLAB, R), software control (GitHub), and GIS-type software. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential, as well as evidence of high-quality research outputs and the ability to communicate them clearly. Additionally, you should have sufficient administrative skills to manage projects and possess breadth/depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques.

What We Offer

The salary range for this position is £45,585 - £57,696 per annum. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a dynamic project that contributes to climate-compatible growth in developing countries.
