Senior Cost Accountant Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our finance team in Witney, working in a modern, highly automated state-of-the-art facility. As a key member of the Finance department, you will play a vital role in driving financial planning and analysis across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and submit planning schedules for annual plans, quarterly latest best estimates, and long-range (5-year) plans as per the divisional calendar, with the aim of identifying drivers for variances from the business and presenting results to senior leadership.
  2. Own and supervise the annual standard cost-setting process for all manufactured product lines, including detailed manufacturing costing analysis and variances from standard.
  3. Collaborate with Operations teams, participating in relevant onsite meetings to understand key operational issues and their impact on the Financials, holding the business accountable for delivering against plans, committed outputs, and results.
  4. Identify and implement cost savings in materials and labor, manage inventory planning, and conduct timely monthly reviews of relevant balance sheet reconciliations.
  5. Contribute to internal and external audit compliance activities, sharing knowledge with the rest of the Finance team.
  6. Work on process improvement initiatives and projects with the support of external systems consultants to achieve quality reporting and time and cost efficiencies.
  7. Collaborate with the wider Finance team on the timely completion of month-end tasks, including preparing and sending relevant reports on time and in full to various parties across the business and division.
The Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will be highly proactive, passionate about cost accounting and process improvements, with a solid background in handling large volumes of data and condensing them into executive summaries.

  • A competitive salary range between £60,000 and £65,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
