About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to join our team as a BSL Support Professional, working closely with our Teacher of the Deaf Team to provide specialist BSL support for children and young people who require sign language provision.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to promoting deaf awareness and developing communication skills among deaf children and young people. They will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to work effectively with families and educational settings to provide training, advice, and resources.

Responsibilities
  • Provide BSL support to children and young people who require sign language provision
  • Work with deaf children and young people to develop their communication skills
  • Develop knowledge and skills of families of deaf children and young people through home visits
  • Collaborate with families and educational settings to provide training, advice, and resources on deaf awareness and the use of sign language
Requirements
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 3 BSL qualification
  • Experience of working with children and young people who are deaf
  • Strong understanding of deaf culture and community
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
