About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to join our team at HMP Altcourse, a busy category B prison located in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool.

This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients and delivering outstanding care. The successful candidate will have excellent developmental opportunities and be part of a great environment to build on their experience within the Substance Misuse Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement clinical care packages, phlebotomy, and assessment, treatment, and evaluation of patient care
  • Support the SMS NMP team in delivering medication and care to substance misuse patients
  • Work primarily within the clinical substance misuse team, although may be required to carry out duties in the primary care team
  • Support the registered nurse in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received while promoting safe patient care and being willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a NVQ Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent. Previous experience in a care setting, ideally from a hospital or prison setting, is also essential. Any experience in substance misuse or mental health would be beneficial. A non-judgemental and compassionate approach is required.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is £24,960 per annum, based on a bank position offering flexibility for you to choose shifts that work around you. The hours we are looking to cover are: 7am - 5:30pm Monday to Sunday. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits including:
